Morning Start by Pierce Brown

When I read Red Rising I wasn’t a fan. The “hunger game” setting just didn’t work for me. But everybody kept telling me that the story gets better and better. So I read the second and then the third one and boy I’m glad I pushed! The second book was also very good, but I think the last one was by far the best of the trilogy! Highly recommend this series!
Malice by John Gwynne

This series doesn’t get the hype that it should. It was recommended by some of my twitter friends and I as won the box set in a give away, so I gave it a try. I admit there is a huge cast of characters, and it can be overwhelming but once you settle into the story it is an epic ride!
Never Die by Rob J. Hayes

Never Die was one of the finalists of Mark Lawrence’s SPFBO contest and I wanted to read some of them and what I surprise this one was. It is short, fast bast, dark and unpredictable. Loved it!
Mexican Gothic by Silvia Moreno-Garcia

My first horror read, and I was very pleasantly surprised! It wasn’t scary for me, but I loved the atmosphere that Moreno-Garcia created and I though the story was gripping.
The Last Smile in Sunder City by Luke Arnold

An urban fantasy, not my usual read once again but again a very pleasant surprise. Loved the premise, loved the atmosphere and the execution. I picked up the second book as soon as it was out, and it was also an amazing read. Again highly recommend this series.
What about you guys? What were there the best books you’ve read in 2020?
I think my favourites are The Devil and the dark water by Stuart Turton and also enjoyed the Greatcoats series by Sebastien De Castell
I did enjoy the last smile in sunder city and never die so understand why they were some of your favourites. Hope you enjoy the last few days of reading in 2020
